Waiter app

The idea: instead of writing the order on paper and keying it in again at the till, the waiter enters it once, at the table. It reaches the kitchen at once, joins the table’s bill, and carries the waiter’s name.

What does a waiter do from the phone?

• See the floor plan and each table’s state, and open a table with its guest count.
• Add items with their required and optional choices, a note per item, and a seat if wanted.
• Send the order to the kitchen and see when it is ready.
• Move or merge tables, and request the bill.
• Mark an item “unavailable” so it disappears for everyone.

Every employee under their own PIN

The device is shared; the identity is not. Each waiter signs in with a personal PIN, so their orders carry their name and show in the waiters report. The device locks itself after an idle period you set. Permissions follow the role: a waiter takes orders, does not see payment details, and cannot give a discount above their ceiling without a manager’s approval.

On the restaurant network, not the internet

Waiter devices connect to the main POS over local Wi‑Fi. No internet subscription per device, and no stoppage if the line drops. A new device is paired with a code from the main device, and a lost one can be revoked there instantly.

Supported devices

Any Android phone or tablet, or an iPhone or iPad. The main POS that runs the floor works on Android or Windows.

The waiter app is part of Sahl’s restaurant and café system, and a waiter device does not count as an extra POS terminal.
