You log in at https://your-account.sahl.ps/admin/login with the username and password you chose at signup. The first time, you land on the Initial company setup, and the panel will not let you skip it, because everything after it depends on it.

Initial setup: six steps

  1. Company: legal name, trade name, tax registration number, address, phone, email. These appear on printed invoices.
  2. Currencies: the base currency your books are kept in (locked after the first posting and never changed), plus the other enabled currencies with an initial exchange rate for each.
  3. Fiscal year: its name, start and end dates. Twelve monthly periods are created automatically and each can be locked separately.
  4. Branch: code and name of the main branch. Even a single shop is one branch.
  5. Tax: the VAT rate and the name of its category. Leave it at zero if the shop has no tax. It becomes the default category for every item.
  6. Confirm: review your choices, then Create company.

What happens in the books

With "Create company", the default chart of accounts is created (cashboxes and banks, customer and supplier receivables, sales, expenses and so on), along with a basic price list in the base currency and a tax group at the rate you chose. You never need to touch the chart of accounts unless you want to.

A decision that cannot be undone

The base currency locks after the first posting. Pick the currency your tax report is prepared in, not the currency you sell in most often; selling in other currencies is always possible. See Currencies and exchange rates.

If you entered these details on the signup form you will find them pre-filled and only need to review them. After completion the page shows "Company configured" with links to company settings, currencies and fiscal years.

The main menu

The top bar is a row of dropdown menus ordered by the working day:

MenuWhat is inside
HomeDashboard, approvals, cash accounts and banks, branches, currencies and exchange rates, tax categories, users, roles and permissions
ItemsItems, item groups, manufacturers, units, price lists, then stock: balances, transfers, adjustments, counts, warehouses, stock reports
AccountsCustomers, suppliers and employees in one list, areas, account groups, salesmen
SalesSales invoices, sales returns, quotations, sales orders, commissions, return reasons
PurchasingPurchase invoices, purchase returns, purchase orders, goods receipts, landed costs
DocumentsReceipts, payments, cheques, fund transfers, bank deposits
Point of saleShifts, promotions, quick items, active POS devices, POS settings; below a divider, the restaurant items for those with the module
ReportsFinancial reports, VAT report, account statement, cash liquidity report, ageing, the report catalogue by group, report builder, saved reports
Advanced accountingChart of accounts, journal entries, opening balances, trial balance, posting rules, fiscal years. Shown only if enabled
SettingsCompany settings, features, billing and subscription, initial setup, document numbering, print templates, active sessions, audit log

Each item appears only to those who hold its permission. A warehouse keeper sees only the stock items under "Items", and a cashier does not see the panel at all unless given permissions on it. Details in Who sees what.

Simple mode

A new account starts in simple mode: advanced items disappear (quotations, orders, goods receipts, landed costs, salesmen, multiple price lists, advanced accounting) so a small shop sees only what it needs. Enable what you need from Settings → Features and its menu item appears immediately, or switch simple mode off entirely. Read Features and simple mode.

Global search and quick create

Press Ctrl+K anywhere, or the "Search" button in the top bar. Type the name of any screen to open it, or "invoice", "receipt", "item" or "customer" to create one directly. After the first week it is faster than the menus.

Tabs

Every screen you open becomes a tab under the top bar, so you can move between an open invoice and a customer statement without losing what you typed. Ctrl+W closes the current tab.

The bell and approvals

If you hold the approvals permission, a bell shows the number of pending requests (such as an invoice that exceeded an employee's amount limit). Clicking it opens the approvals screen.

Language and theme

From the top bar you switch between Arabic and English, and between light and dark themes. Each user keeps their own choice.

What next?

  1. Complete company and tax details if anything is missing.
  2. Add your users and their roles.
  3. Enter your items and their balances.
  4. Set up the cashier if you use the point of sale.

Frequently asked questions

I forgot my password. What do I do?

In the Sahl app press "Forgot password" and a reset link is sent to your email. If you are an employee, your manager can reset it for you from Home → Users.

I cannot see the "Advanced accounting" menu

That is normal in simple mode. Enable it from Settings → Features, or switch simple mode off.

Can I skip the initial setup?

No. The base currency, fiscal year and branch are required for any posting, so the panel stays on the setup page until you finish. It takes two minutes.
