A price list per order type
For the restaurant that sells takeaway at prices other than dine in, or adds a margin on delivery.
The idea
In many restaurants a sandwich costs one price at the table and another as takeaway, or delivery orders carry a margin. Instead of two items per dish, you link each order type (dine in, takeaway, delivery, counter) to a sales price list, and the device prices the order with its type's list automatically. A type with no list is priced with the cashier list as usual.
Steps
- Create a sales price list under Price lists, for example "Takeaway". A new list is born with a copy of the default list's prices for every item, so you only edit what differs. A new item is added to every list with its price when created.
- Open Restaurant → Restaurant setup → "General" tab. Under "Enabled order types" there is a "Price list" field for every enabled type.
- Choose "Takeaway" for takeaway, leave the rest empty, and save.
- Wait for the next settings sync on the main POS (or pull to refresh settings in the app).
Tip
Make the takeaway list an independent list with entered prices, not a list derived by a percentage from its parent: the device prices from the rows stored on it, and a percentage-derived list is computed on the server without stored rows, so items in it fall back to the cashier price.
What changes on the devices
- When a takeaway order is opened, the waiter device and the POS show the item price from the takeaway list and compute the bill with it.
- Option price deltas (size, extras) do not change with the order type; they come from the option group itself.
- Dine-in orders and earlier orders are not affected. QR orders stay on the price list set in the "QR" tab.
- Prices of order-type lists reach the device with the cashier data, so they work offline like every other price.
On the invoice and in reports
On closing, the sales invoice is created with the price the order was computed with, so reports need nothing extra: "Sales by order type" in Restaurant reports shows takeaway at its actual prices. Nothing changes in accounting: the price is the price, whichever list it came from.
Conditions
| Condition | Why |
|---|---|
| An active sales list | A purchase or inactive list is rejected on save |
| The order type is enabled | The field shows for enabled types only; disabling a type hides its field and keeps the link stored |
| The same currency | Restaurant lists use the base currency like the cashier list |
General restaurant setup is in Enabling and setting up the restaurant module.
Frequently asked questions
Can the cashier pick another list manually for a takeaway order?
No. The list follows the order type automatically; for a special price for one guest use a discount within the staff member's limit.
I changed the takeaway list and the price did not change on the device?
The device prices from its local copy. Wait for the next cashier sync or pull to refresh data in the app, and make sure the item has an explicit price in the list.
Does the same work for counter and delivery?
Yes. Every enabled order type has its own field, and several types can share the same list.
