Sahl ships with ready-made roles designed for a real shop. Each user has one role, and the owner can narrow it with scopes or adjust it with individual allow and deny items. How to create users is in Creating a user and Roles.

See Enabling and setting up the restaurant.

What the menu shows each role

The top bar shows only the groups in which the user is allowed at least one item, and inside each group only the allowed items:

GroupWho sees it
Home (dashboard, approvals, cashboxes and banks, branches, currencies, taxes, users, roles)Anyone with the dashboard sees the group; users and roles are for the owner and manager, cashboxes and banks for those who see treasury.

Scopes narrow the role

ScopeLimits
BranchOne or more branches the user works in.
WarehouseThe warehouses they handle and sell from.
CashboxThe cashboxes they receive and pay on; their shift cashbox is chosen from these.
Item groupsWhat the cashier sells; nothing else reaches their device.
Amount limitThe maximum for a payment voucher; anything above needs approval.

Details in Scopes.

Approvals: when work pauses

Three cases automatically send an approval request and keep the document as a draft: credit limit exceeded for a customer whose policy requires approval, discount above the limit, and amount above the user's limit. The manager sees requests under Home, then Approvals and in the notification bell, and approves or rejects with a note.

Tip

Simple mode is on by default and hides quotations, orders, goods receipts, landed costs, salesmen, price lists and advanced accounting from the menu for every role. Enable what you need under Settings, then Features.

Frequently asked questions

Can a user have two roles?

No, one role. But the owner can add individual allow or deny items on top of the role in the user record.

Why does the accountant not see a create invoice button?

Because their role is view and export for sales only. To let them create invoices, grant an individual allow item or change their role.

The cashier does not see some items on their device. Why?

The item group scope on their account decides what reaches their device. Clear the scope so they see everything.
